For the first time ever, the MBCM Northern Country Women’s League crowned joint Best & Fairest winners at their second annual Vote Count & Presentation Night Gala event held at the Kyabram Club on Monday 20th August.
Coming from the same club, Echuca, Jessica Pitts and Jodie Lake took out the Fernwood Best & Fairest award, polling 16 points each.
The respective onballer and ruck, the pair were both surprised but pleased that they could share this accolade together.
“I am so glad that we got this together, I’d be too scared to beat Jodie anyway” Pitts said.
Likewise, Lake was thrilled with the outcome.
“It’s a huge honour and I owe a lot to my team and coach”.
In a congested leaderboard, the runner up with 15 points was Emily Munro from Kerang, missing the last three games due to a broken leg.
Samantha Heron from Shepparton Bears received the other major individual award winning the Goal-kicking Award. Heron kicked 26 goals for the home and away season.
In the two other awards presented on the night Fiona Byrnes from Nathalia received the Coach of the Year Award and Echuca’s Peter Young was selected as the Club Administrator of the Year.
