Mass Nutrition Cup Fixture Released
The line ups have been confirmed for the first Mass Nutrition Cup which will be held this Sunday 15 April at Rochester Recreation Reserve to launch the MBCM Northern Country Women’s League season.
The event, a partnership between the MBCM Northern Country Women’s League and the Central Victorian Women’s Football League, will see 11 teams compete in a round robin one day event as a pre season competition to launch both senior football leagues for 2018.
AFL Goulburn Murray Region General Manager Martin Gleeson is looking forward to this new tournament getting underway.
“With the success of the inaugural MBCM NCWL season last year and the subsequent splitting of our partnership with AFL Central Victoria we wanted to provide an opportunity to maintain the relationship by having a pre season tournament” he said.
“The competition will feature the seven MBCM NCWL teams and four of the five teams from the newly created Central Victorian Women’s Football League.”
“Games will be fast and furious to allow for more squad members to participate and also for teams to come up against as many other teams over the course of the day.”
“It will also be the debut of our two new clubs Nathalia and Rumbalara with Benalla Saints, Echuca, Kerang, Mooroopna and Shepparton all looking to build on their performances from last season.”
“The event will be a great way for all teams to have a solid hit out and get some important game time in before the full season commences on 29 April.”
“Tournament sponsor Mass Nutrition will have a stall on the day as well as League major partner MBCM so there will be more to the day than just the on field action.”
“Rochester is a great venue for a tournament such as this so we are looking forward to a big day with lots of action as a great promotion for female participation in sport.”
