AFL Goulburn Murray have a new Regional General Manager in Jamie Macri, who will be moving from AFL Central Victoria in Bendigo, to AFL Goulburn Murray office in Kialla, within the next month.
Jamie has had a lifetime of country football having played in the Northern Victorian region, as well as coaching over many seasons at various levels from seniors to juniors, and spending over 10 years in Football Development roles through the Central Murray and Central Victorian regions.
Chairman Peter Foott welcomed the appointment, replacing Martin Gleeson, who has accepted a key role for NSW Cricket in Canberra.
“Martin has made a significant contribution to pioneering AFL Goulburn Murray with programs and league administrations, with new and innovative resources supporting the development of the game to the region”.
“Stepping into the role, Jamie will be able to continue and consolidate this work, bringing with him the experience of setting up the AFL Central Murray based on Swan Hill and Kerang regions, where he has made a significant contribution in junior development and starting the female football programs” Peter said.
Not only has Jamie got substantial experience in the football area, but in community work as well.
“Community football takes in all aspects of community life, and it’s great to see the amount of experience Jamie has put into SES Emergency Services over thirteen years, and other community programs for youth, welfare and multicultural programs” acting Regional General Manager Chris Thomas said
This community work has been enhanced by continuous learning and training, with additional qualifications in training and management, gained along the way.
More recently, Jamie has been engaged as Football Development Manager in AFL Central Victoria, where he has engaged in thirty six club improvement programs, providing assistance to clubs coping with the adjustment to the challenges for clubs competing against modern day recreations.
Jamie Macri is looking forward to bringing his experiences to the Goulburn Murray region, working with the AFL GM staff at Kialla, to continue the development work and programs in the region.
