The Shepparton DJFL will provide portable goal posts to all of its U10 and U12 teams after securing funding through the Greater Shepparton City Council Our Sporting Future program.
The goal posts will enable the League to fully engage the AFL Junior Match Policy and provide for smaller sided games with games to be set up to play across the field.
In this way two games can be played simultaneously and the smaller team numbers and the reduced size playing field will encourage greater participation and allow for participants to be more engaged in the game.
The goal posts will be presented to representatives of clubs by Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Cr Kim O’Keeffe this Wednesday at Kialla Park Recreation Reserve at 10:30am.
In all, 22 sets of posts will be provided to assist 34 teams and thus benefit around 650 boys and girls from clubs including Central Saints, Eastern Rangers, Mooroopna, Nathalia Knights, Numurkah Blues, Northern Eagles, SGR Giants, Southern Stars and Tatura.
